Vanessa, Attorney, Miami, Florida USA

Other than mullets, the only other thing my locks fear more than bangs, is a bob.  My friend Clarine pulls off both. With an effortless piece-y shag, messy bangs and Hermes bangles, she somehow blends drug addict with Middleton. It’s an enviable natural born talent that I couldn’t even fake if I tried.

With hair, I’ve always been long, straight and boring. No gutsy dyes or choppy layers to fight with just fried ends and frizz. Despite the drab, my hair always provides me with just the right amount of confidence and curl.  Still a part of me craves the kind of hairstyle that makes strangers appear inherently cool. Edgy bangs at best, a mini- Mohawk at worst.  I’m just not so sure it’s me.

A good haircut changes the way you stand.  It hides flaws and creates smiles, genuine, “I can rule the world” type smiles.   I’m not sure what’s next for me, but I’m thinking I’ll practice with highlights, maybe even bangs, the side swept , easy to grow out kind.  I’m feeling strangely bold these days.  So stay tuned!
